Blogs were the next big thing five years ago. Everyone had a blog. My great aunt had a blog. My dog had a blog. Ok, this may be a bit of an exaggeration, after all I didn't have a blog and neither did George (my dog). But blogs were everywhere. Today, blogs as a form of social communication are less prevalent as social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter can help you broadcast to millions of people and then network with their friends through the Live Feed system. It is really quite extraordinary to see the way information is assimilated. But that's not to say that the humble blog is dead. Its having quite a
resurgence with the advent of sites such as Pinterest, which allows
people to pin websites of interest to a public board that can be searched and perused by other users. If you haven't joined the Pinterest Revolution yet, get right on that!
George, he blogged before it was cool man!
So, back to blogs. Blogs are still very popular and informal way to spread information to users. For instance, I quite like
the State Library of NSW Aquisitions Blog which allows you to get a glimpse of the type new material that comes into the Library's collection every day. This blog is great because it is updated frequently and new posts occur about twice a week.
Happy Blogging,
Madeline
What a Hipster George!
