The Guybrarian and Libraries in the Social Media

Men in the library services in the modern age that they have penned a term for themselves; The Guybrarian. A came across the twitter account of a self proclaimed "guybrarian" David Wright. His twitter account is fun and informative, giving reviews of books and links back to the blog he operates for Booklists, the American Library Associations twice monthly magazine.

Libraries are jumping on the social media bandwagon and personally, I applaud them. In a world where information is spread quickly and the global community is getting smaller and smaller every day, the fact that our public institutions are staying up to date with these trends is important. Facebook and Twitter can provide new and interesting marketing campaigns and allow the library to have an approachable facade.

The National Library of Australia has a wonderful Facebook page that regularly updates its statuses and lots of pictures. Find it here: https://www.facebook.com/National.Library.of.Australia?fref=ts

Happy blogging,

Madeline
